Imperial to me means to have the capacity to dominate other counteries which it does, it's military doesn't really have a match in the world right now. I don't know about the economy anymore, I think to stay on top you need a powerful military, and a prosperous economy.

I don’t know about the rest of the countries that appear red on this map, but Austria definitely does NOT have any US military bases.

Well, people can argue that since US is not throwing over the governments (except few) and not taking direct charge of their internal affairs, it’s not imperial, but just the “saviour”.

US can't afford being a savior anymore, especially with the state her economy is in right now. Why are states stationed in Countries that are more than capable of spending money to build their own army. Germany, Japan, the states in Mideast are some examples. The US should just pull out of these places unless these countries start paying protection money.

Yes and No. It will depends how you will define it.
the fundamental principal for existence of USA is based on following rules as per my understanding:
being a world largest & innovative economy
World leader in science & technology
largest defense forces
culture
all four of these provide foundation for US to force others to live by their rules which ultimately become imperialism.
China is moving faster then US in the historical perspective to become the world largest econmy and also a cultural power, the day is not far when China will show her influence around the world - but while growing China right now excersizing it's sphere of influence on Pakistan, Taiwan, Koeras etc. Fundamental rule of universe is quiet clear if you are something you will have your influence area.

No, America is super power and has ability to induce, impose imperialism and dominate other countries of the world.
America IS imperial. It just took over from where the British empire left off.
