I think this is the key to weight loss or weight gain. If we only saw food as fuel we would make wiser choices. I know I would.
Every time family visits or there’s a special occasion for a few days, it’s taste buds satisfaction time and weight gain time and then we’re back to seeing it as fuel but this is what causes the seesaw effect of the weight going up and down.
It's definitely something that satisfies everything other than fuel.i too wish I made healthier choices by actually seeing it as fuel. I eat like everyday is the last dawat I will ever attend and that is NOT a good thing.
Re: Do you see food as fuel or as something to satisfy the taste buds?
There's no harm in seeing food as both? I mean, healthy food can taste amazing as well, just because you're trying to eat healthy doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy it.
Re: Do you see food as fuel or as something to satisfy the taste buds?
I've realized it's not that healthy food isn't tasty, it can be (I'm slowly getting into eating more and more veggies) but my problem is more like.... I like ALL kinds of foods. healthy or unhealthy. so there's more of an effort to avoid unhealthy food rather than eating more healthy....if that makes sense
Re: Do you see food as fuel or as something to satisfy the taste buds?
I have to disagree. I'm not enjoying food anymore :( I've been binge eating because I don't have regular meals because I don't like regular home cooked stuff and my energy levels go down pretty fast. So food is fuel for me but I'm not eating healthy at all.
Re: Do you see food as fuel or as something to satisfy the taste buds?
During holidays it's the fattening foods that we eat and we eat loads of it ever since we were kids. We eat the baklava, kheer, halva filled with ghee.
Eating healthy food has to take a major effort. I usually eat salads but whenever i'm around family or friends it's all that stuff that causes weight gain for me.
I remember when I visited the small village my parents' were raised in, they never eat one raw vegetable and salads are not known other than raita or something similar for desis.
At work, there's a fun birthday every week and what do we get for the birthdays.........yummy mouthwatering chocolate cake so there's always food around that will cause weight gain for me.
I wish I could see the cake as pure fat and sugar that has absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever but I almost always eat a piece regardless of that fact.
