Do you believe in reasoning with them and if so…at what age do you start?

i try to tell them reasons so they don't think Why in their head but if they can't accept or understand it i don't let them choose always. this for me starts from toddlerhood. with every No should follow a reason.

I already try to reason with her. It's not very effective, but I want her to get used to that use of language.

I reason with the children , always have from when they were toddlers, 16 years on and still doing it!!!! LOL

you can start as soon as you want. get in the flow of things... i started very early with my son .. i think 6 months.. when he started to get into things... and now like mabrook said... every no is followed by a reason...

And at around six months theynsay they start understanding "no" and it's the beginning ofnthe discipline process, so it doesn't hurt to try reasoning with them.
