I don’t have much experience there but someone recently gave me their membership as a gift. So I went there and liked the fish (Tilapia loins—excellent for grilling), Also liked the juice packets for kids.
Other than that, I didn’t really think I needed THAT much of some stuff. Maybe if people have lots of storage they can really benefit from shopping there.
I didn’t like the signs on their aisles. Couldn’t find them. I’ll get used to it eventually.
niksik honey costco is very addictive once you get used to it :)
I know it takes a while to get used to it, lakin what I like about costco is that they carry a lot of unique stuff, from clothes to kitches, to kids, to home, to gourmet.
I bought few pieces of jewlery from there too, theri diamond quality is quite nice, much better than a regular from the mall jewlery stores.
The only thing I don't like about costco is that their marketing strategy is too smart, and stupid ppl like me end up spending more than I really need to.
I go there for meats, paper products, kids school snacks, dog food and various other groceries. And save lots!! True, you're buying in bulk so you need tohave the storage space but if you can fit it in, the savings can be much!
For instance, my eldest drinks 2 carnation instant bfasts each day. At the grocery store, a box of 10 packets is 5.99 but at costco, a box of 30 is 10.99!!!!
A package containing 10 snack bags of chips is 3.99 at the grocery store. A box of 50 at costco is 9.99
Iams dog food at grocery store is 17.99 for a 20 pound bag and at costco, I pay 25.99 for 50 pounds.
Their meats are SO nice too!! Never too much fat, always top of the line meats. Very inexpensive chickens too, like 89 cents a pound.
Go-gurts are very insexpensive there, so is american cheese. Frozen fish filets are AWESOME. I get either tilapia or mahi-mahi filets in (I think) 10 pound bags. And the filets are individually vacuum-wrapped, same with boneless chicken cutlets. Never any freezer burn when they come packaged like this.
I buy from costco all the time. I know what's in what aisle because I go there so much. Because its just the two of us, me and hubby, we don't really need food from there because everything is in bulk and then it expires in bulk :(
I buy cleaning products... sponges, lysol, dishwashing stuff frm there in big packages.. last me forever. I buy sodas/juices from there, bread, eggs. I don't buy veggies or meat of course its not halal. Every now and then I buy fruits .. cherries, strawberries.
Membership is pretty cheap. I say go for it. If you don't think you are using it too much, you can discontinue it.
Oh and their bakery stuff, cakes, bagels really good and fresh.
we totally love COSTCO and it does save you money (ok over long time). Initially i was also double minded on spending so much money upfront but my wife convinced me. Must buys for us from COSTCO are
paper towels
bathroom rolls
cleaners / bleach etd
paper products
soda/jusices
fresh fruit
fish
frozen veggies
milk
few snack items for kids
yougert
cloths (whenever they have good deals on)
medicines (prescribed ones)
everyday use basmati rice
batteries
garbage bags
and much more. Dur holiday season they also have electronics (cameras etc) at VERY GOOD price....
Oh! I forgot to mention the catering supplies I got last year...I did thanksgiving feast for 45 family members. Costco had these awesome catering stands, the metal frame things. Got foil pans to insert and the fuel to light underneath to keep food hot and I had a lovely hot buffet for my company going for 6 hours. The cost for all of the container things was awesomely cheap...I think I spent less than 100 and the stands last forever, you just replace the foil food pans.
I love Costco, you get used to it slowly. But with kids now you save a lot of money on Costco.
Gas, laundry detergents, kitchen cleaning stuff, disposable plates etc for parties, fruits(their fruits are sweet always my experience), juices, breakfast, bagels, basmati rice, oil, waffles etc. Although they don't have much variety in clothing but some times I buy them too.Like I got addidas sports trousers for 15 as I remember only. Yep I am hooked on to Costco, simply love it.
I heart Costco but everytime I go there…all I do shop and eat. They have their little associates standing in every aisle like minions ready to stuff you with something delicious… Its all healthy stuff but people TRUST ME you can so get fat from healthy things too!
My Costco list:
Paper towels
Bathroom tissue
Cleaning supplies
Frozen foods (they have amazing veggie egg rolls I take with me to potlucks sometimes…so cheap)
Eggs
Paper products
Household things too…like electronics and other stuff…
I bought a TV from costco.. a sony.. we compared prices and costco's was the lowest. Good thing about costco is.. they take everything back.. even if you lose the receipt because they have your purchases in your card .. they can look it up.
