Unless you’ve experienced a situation yourself, can you really give advice to someone else on a specific matter? Or are we shooting in the dark when we give advice to people who are generally random strangers on the internet whose background we don’t know?
Aside from Life1 type issues, what about political/social matters - if we don’t live in Pakistan, can/should we be commenting on the circumstances of another person’s existence and vice versa?

Cant, to be absolutely honest. But if someone is really in need for some 3rd party experience/advice/perspectives, the least I could do is provide to get them in a certain ball park of understanding the issue in hand. We only know what we've been taught, unless you expect us all to be Einsteins future offspring's.
Re: Do you need to walk a mile in someone shoes...
No one can ever know what someone is truly going through on the inside, so all advice given should be taken with a grain of salt, or in some occasions, with a bag of salt.

There are two ways of learning/gaining an experience in this poor world ... Either you been through that situation yourself and gained a valuable experience out of it , Or you learn from other people' experiences - shape your wisdom according to the steps taken by them in relation of the outcomes achieved ...
In either cases - if you play wise , I don't see any harm in pitching the idea and sharing your thoughts on any matter .. Whether the advice seeking party take the course of action described by you or not - that's totally their own discretion .
On Political/Social issues - Recent migrants or people who frequently visit Pakistan , always have clue - when it comes to such issues ... So one can't just brush off their opinions ..
Re: Do you need to walk a mile in someone shoes...
yes, you can give advice if you understand the issue very well or you have experienced it before, otherwise it is shooting in the dark.
While for those who are not in Pakistan, can't give advice on social/political matters as they don't understand exactly what is the situation and news don't tell everything.
Re: Do you need to walk a mile in someone shoes...
You're shooting in the dark even if you've walked in someone's shoes.
Generally though, common sense prevails over experience.
Easier said than done though.
