Do you need high end knwoledge for share dealing?

Just wondering if a layman with not much of a finance related knowledge can deal with shares? If possible can anyone describe the share buying/selling process in simple words? It fascinates me but I fail to make sense out of the business programs on tv..

Anyone can deal in shares, but just like anything else you deal with unless you have knowledge of the product you are dealing in you will invariably end up burning your fingers. If you fancy dealing in shares but do not have detailed knowledge about them than the best way is to invest in mutual funds where experienced fund managers look after and invest money on your behalf. Success is not guaranteed though.
