Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
Older one sometime gets a kick out of that. She asks for tea (once or twice in a month) and we usually give her decaf with Soup spoon, and she drinks few spoons full and that is it
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
when it's cold I give couple of sips to mine.
But I have caught my little one sneaking and drinking leftover chai. She is gonna be a chai drinker.
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
my 2 year old nephew love chai in fact he would stand in front of us and ask us. he is doing it since i think he was 8 months ![]()
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
She doesn't right now but I wouldn't mind starting her on it.
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
Oh reminded me that my older one specifically love Ginger wali chai, especially on the days she is feeling itchy throat in the morning
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
I was gonna start this topic.. lol.. My son lovesssssss chai. He is only 10 months old. His dad is totally against it and says its not good for kids.. So I also wanted to ask why is chai not considered good for kids? As far as I remember, in Pakistan baray buzurg say that its good to give some tea to kids that helps them clear congestion.
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
^ Your hubby's concern would be possibility of addiction, and the fact that chai is a combo of caffeine and sugar - both of them are not good for kids as it could make them hyper active. A little quantity (1/3rd or even 1/4th cup) should be ok I think (but not regularly).
I dont let them drink it.. They just come over, take their sips, dunk their cookies and "god knows where ive been fingers" and totally ruin my precious chai moments!! Some would say Im an inept mother... To them i say.. U havent met mine!!!
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
According to the health pro's you shouldn't give tea to a child under the age of 2 as it inhibits iron absorbtion from their food. However I have given weak tea to my son who is 16mnths due to d winter & to cure a lil cold.
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
why NOT? if your tea doesn't have alcohol in it, sure! :D
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
We siblings weren't allowed to have tea for almost 10-12 years of our early life, wonder why but probably a good decision since none of us are hooked to any such drinks at all. There are many people who are in a way addicted to coffee, tea, carbonated drinks. So thankfully, that's not the case with us and I guess it is because we weren't allowed to have it an early stage.
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
Yeah my parents didn't let us have chai either. Only time we got chai was in the form of doodh pattee and that too with our paratha and achaar during the colder months for breakfast.
None of us siblings are hooked to chai either. But Jr. now wants to have a sip of our chai or coffee. Thanks to his nana dada giving him a sip from their chai.
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
I don't give tea to my children but elder one gets away with sips if ever I make tea. I don't drink tea and my husband either.
Re: Do you let your kids drink chai?
