Do you have one?
God Forbid - have you made one so that your children have appointed guardians? Or if you don’t have children your assets are not given to the state allocated to who you want to give them to.

I have been contemplating having one since a few weeks now … i think i need to do some serious thinking … ![]()
Re: Do you have a will?
Hi, njgal. I am sure there was a discussion on this not too long ago. But I do think people underestimate the importance of a will very much so.
Anyone who has a responsibility of a care giver, i.e. parents, decision-makers - must must put their will together asap. Sigh. :(
Re: Do you have a will?
I dont have a will as such..:)
All of my savings have my mother as the nominee...so she will get it all:D
Re: Do you have a will?
I have a will. I think it is so important to have esp' if you have children or own property abroad and where you are living etc.
:)
I have no will since I really have nothing to my account except some stocks that have gone down about 99%. But I have made sure everyone has included me in theirs.:p
Re: Do you have a will?
.
tell me if you are living alone in abroad and all ur relatives are in other country lets say (pakistan).then where the kids go:hmmm:
Re: Do you have a will?
^ I guess in that case the kids would have to go to their family members in Pakistan. Its better than having the Social Services take over.
Re: Do you have a will?
No i dont have one and neither do i need one....
Don't think my dad have it either, since we as a family dont give a damn about Money, Properties etc.....
To us happiness and being together as a family matters .....

You are confusing "Will" with the over dramatic concept of will shown in Indian movies and Pakistani dramas. This is not Kishan Kaniya or Beta, there is no evil step mom trying to take everything over with the help of here brother.

In England and countries simliar, if you don't write a will the law will determine what happens to your assets regardless of your wishes.
I think it would be hurtful and unfair for me not to have written a will esp' when I have a child.
Writing a will avoids family disputes, reveals the executor who will take over your responsibilites, gives other important info' e.g. bank numbers, insurances, debts owed to anyone or other out-standing bills e.g. loans, offshore bank accounts, passwords, savings, morgages etc. It reduces legal issues and taxes and such a legally binding document can prevent gold diggers to lay claims on things which you would like to bequest to others perferred by you. It gives clear instructions on who will act as guardian for your children.
As my law-teacher would say* time to grow up and time to make a will*!
Lol! :)
Re: Do you have a will?
A very good topic. We don't have a will yet, but inshallah plan to make one soon, the Quran talks about the duty of the righteous to have a will. I was shocked to learn that in Pakistan, you cannot leave stuff to your children in a will, the government forces the Quranic distribution of your estate even though the Quran says that only in the absence of a will does so much go to a son and so much to a daughter etc. All in chapter 4.
Re: Do you have a will?
good topic. I always think about it, but never act on it.
I always think I am not that rich, in millions, so I don't really have to worry about making a will.
but I know I am wrong. Whatever little I have can make a difference in my kids life!
A will can also be "responsibilities". Like who will look after your kids after you. So ye there's alot of thinking to do.
Re: Do you have a will?
I dont have one, but will have one inshallah when I get married and have dependents to worry about.
I never knew my father had a will, not until he passed away and everything automatically got sorted out, I had no idea he was such a meticulous forward planner, Allah bless his soul. Having a will is very important and its amazing how we fail to realize that.
Re: Do you have a will?
^ So sorry to hear about your Father, Jaanwar. May Allah Ta'lah swt show him Jaanaat, Inshallah.
