You may also want to know if it is ok to read your namaz in English!
E.g. you will start with takbeer as "Allah is great" ... and so on
Re: Do you get less sawab if you read the Quran in a language other than Arabic?

Translation, insan ne ki hai...
What will u prefer? U decide!

Third String,
I know that we get 10 rewards for each letter of every word that we read. Well, those letters are written in the Arabic language, not in English. I would recommend that you read in both languages; don't avoid the Arabic altogether. I also suggest watching Nouman Ali Khan's tafseer videos because he explains the Arabic as well...(the meaning of the words, prefixes, singular and plural) and sometimes he even connects the Arabic words to Urdu. This will help develop your understanding of Arabic to an extent....to where when you're reading the Quran...you'll recognize some of the Arabic words and have some idea of what the verses are about.
Read the English so you get at least some understanding of the Quran...and then you can supplement that with videos from a scholar who has a strong grasp of classical Arabic...and that will make your Arabic recitation a more meaningful experience. But don't skip the Arabic.

Redvelvet: Can you pls share an authentic hadith which says about getting reward for reading the words in Quran. There are few people who don't agree with this and if you can share some reference it would be great help to me.
Re: Do you get less sawab if you read the Quran in a language other than Arabic?
Only ALLAH knows what magnitude of sawab you get for whichever act. Let me tell you what I think:
You read Quran in arabic, but your heart & mind are totally somewhere else. But ALLAH knows. Your sawab will be as per that.
You read it in English or urdu or wutever, but you are totally focused, trying to get every word of it. Who knows you may get far more sawab for that.
But remember, in the end Quran was revealed in Arabic and stays that way as the original. Rest of the languages are all translations. for sawab purposes, sticking with the original appears to be the best way

1)The quran was not revealed only for sake of reading in a senseless way but for understanding of its message properly so that one could act on that message faithfully.
2)It is a book with revolutionary message not a message for pooja paat.
3) Deen of islam is a movement for ensuring well being of humanity as a whole on the basis of the quran. It is an education based revolutionary moveemnt.
4)People are created babies not knowing anything at all but they are given all they need for learning to become knowledgeable people eg they are given brains, senses, bodies and things to interact with and learn from. So there is no excuse for anyone who is gift with all one needs to remain ignorant and stupid regarding deen of islam.
