everyone keeps telling me inshallah and have faith in Allah…but i feel like i havent done anything that should make Allah (swt) feel as if he should help me
not because of him, but like i havent been good about things like namaz for a while now…and i guess i feel like i dont have the right to ask Allah to help me b/c i havent done anything to prove my love and faith and devotion to him
I know this sounds kinda dumb perhaps, or maybe even going JAP, but…
when you’re in a bind, and you need strength and endurance or some luck or whatever, and you are doing all that you can do, but still you do need help…
I’d rather ask Allah than some other human being. Worse that can happen is that the Big Guy wont help you. With another human being, they’ll take your weakness and use it against you.
Plus, in any kind of situation, God can definitely help out. I dont know, maybe I’m wrong here. But I think that even if a sinner asked God for help with an honest prayer, there is a CHANCE that the sinner might not get turned away empty-handed.
If that's the case, I think none of us is good enough to ask Allah (swt) for his help. Being a muslim, it is our FARZ to ask Allah for help. Don't feel ashamed :)
**“And your lord has said, ‘Call upon me and I will answer you” **
**[Surah Al-Ghafir, 40:60] **
**“And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on me…” **
i just feel like…i’m using him…you know what im trying to say?
pcg-thats very true, sweetie
dhn-i know i just feel like…i don’t know how to explain it…i just feel like i’ve not been good as a i could be so i dont have the right to call on him only when im freakin out, you lknow?
Sid: following is taken from an article by Abdulaziz Addarweesh
Allah :swt: says:
“And your Lord said: -Invoke Me * (and ask Me for anything) I will respond to your (invocation). Verily! Those who scorn My worship * they will surely enter hell in humiliation!” (Qur’an 40:60).
Allah :swt: said:
**“Invoke Me, I will respond to you”, **so from His mercy for His slaves He has promised to respond to their invocations but for those who do not invoke Him, He has promised punishment because invocation of Allah (SWT) is an act of worship and refusing to invoke Him ( disbelieving in Him or having doubt in His ability to answer the invocation) is refusal to worship Him.
Proofs of supplication from Sunnah
Narrated An-Numan bin Bashir:razi:: The Prophet :saw: said:
"Verily, Supplication is worship”. [Reported by AI-Arbaa (The four) and AI-Tirmidhi, graded it Sahih (sound)].
Narrated Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet :saw: said:
“Supplication is the Pith (essence) of worship”. [Reported by At-Tirmidhi with a full chain of narrators].
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (Ra): The Prophet :saw: said:
“Nothing is more honorable (most liked ) before Allah (SWT) than Supplication “. [Reported by At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Hibban and Al-Hakim graded it Sahih].
From all the, Hadiths above we see that Supplication is a type of worship and it is honorable to Allah or liked by Allah:swt:**
There are instances when our prayers are not answered, because, as humans we ask for something that we believe is best for us, but, in reality its not. This reminds me of a song by Garth Brooks (Unanswered Prayers)..Sometime God's greatest gift is his unanswered parayers. So always ask Allah what HE thinks is best for you. For example, I always ask in the following manner " O Allah, guide me to the right path and grant me what you deem is best for me".
is it weird that some people (my cousin) pray when they need to do well on a test or something.. last time i went to paksitan my cousin's like i gotta pray cus i need to do well on my board exams ( n she took them like a month ago)..
isnt it bad ( or i would feel bad) if i only prayed when i had to do well on a test n not because it was the right thing to do .
sara-yeah see i dont ever want to be doing that :(
kaleem-i know that song....no my point is exactly what sara said-i dont want to be one of those people whol only turns to God when they need something, but isn't a good servant to him otherwise
I know some friends who do that too. I mean only start praying when they have test or something important. To make you feel better, just thank Allah everytime you accomplish something even if it is a very small task. It works.
i never want to be one of those people that only calls upon Allah (swt) when they need something, but never thanks, praises, or thinks of him otherwise...that would make me so ashamed :(
Sometimes I feel as if i'm "wasting" my duas by asking to do well on a test or something, esp when I don't pray regularly, but I've been told repeatedly that there is no such thing as wasting a dua...but my mother says that Allah (swt) is happy when we ask him for guidance and strength ...
