Do you believe in blood ?

We all know the child’s brought is vital in developing his character, but I met few people, strongly believing in genetical effect of parents on children.

I have heard stories about adopted orphans.e.g, after a theft, the family might suspect the adopted child who was son of a theif.

Does the blood and genes matters. Is the dead prostitute to be blamed, if her child grows up to become a woman of bad character ?

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

GENES play a vital role in determining an individual's character . BUT this does not mean a theif's or a w**** child would grow up to be a theif , etc .
being a theif is not in one's nature . it was adapted according to the circumstances

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

it's amyth our society follows, and has nothing to do with gene and everything to do with upbringing and circumstances.

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

interesting topic

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

b4 being a mom i thought environment counts but now i feel genes play very vital role coz u cannot change nature n mostly when u look around u find same types in ur immediate family or urself n ur partner.n u'll see lot of parents saying abt their kids behaviour"i used to b same when i was lil" so it does make diff i guess.
Also when we see group of ppl or communities we find resemblance like paki/desi ppl would love breaking rules n discipline no matter where they live n grow up.same chinese hav more respect for laws.when i go to pick up my kids at school i always notice the ones running n breaking queus r desi kids n other walking nicely n chking for traffic while crossing r caucasian/chinese.

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

^ Interesting observation.

I don't know if I am suppose to share this or not, since childhood I and my siblings always had a very strong passion for learning more about religon, specially Islam ,even though living in the house of a Air force officer and that too in a very fashionable city with not very religious people around us.

In the beginning my father, was not very happy with this as he wanted us to first excell more in the feild we are working in like Doctor, engineering...etc, but we still used to discuss more about Islam all night....

He does sometimes gives impression as if we have inherited it from our forefathers who were Imams in masjids, by profession.

This made me think on this topic, as according to my knowledge, in the past some very good people were born in bad families and vice versa. Even some Prophet's own blood relatives were not good people.

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

A person's abilities and personality (such as athletic abilities, artstic, intellectual, by personality meaning if one has a short temper, lots of patience, being shy or outgoing etc) can be passed down from parent to child..but their characters, their morals and values are shaped by their parents and environemnt..

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

^Hmm...makes sense. JazakAllah khair for sharing.

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

I don’t subscribe to this idea. Kids watch and copy their parents. If as a parent you follow the rule of the law and tell the kids its importance, it gets registered in their brain. A difference between what one says and how one acts will not bring anything positive in their child’s behaviour.

However, I have seen mothers believe that all the bad habits in their kids are coming from the bad genes their kids inherited from their father’s family.

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

I think it's more a case of upbringing. Children ape their parents and the family around. Good people may have bad children or vice versa.

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

what sara said.

Re: Do you believe in blood ?

I strongly believe that the above in bold are learned behaviour traits and have little to do with genes.

A child of short-tempered parents can easily pick up the same behaviour because of what he/she observes and not because of genes. A child of one short-tempered parent and other not can pick up either of the behaviour (or a mixture).

I also strongly believe that after a certain age, people gain the ability to change the behaviour they have grown up to be with. It is completely in their own hands.
