Accent what accent ?
Some people have such a bad accent that you need a translator to help you understand what they are saying .
In meetings some Chinese counterparts of mine who dial in to the meetings speak in such a horrible accent. I cannot understand 75 percent of what they are saying. :hinna:
And I am the one who used to claim that I can understand English spoken in any accent of the world.

lol I know what you mean, i have frens from nigeria and their accent is soo thick, at times I would just nod n say yes without understandin wat they r sayinf n one day i got caught b/c fren was actually askin me a question and all I was doing was noddin

For fear of starting a riot I would not name the nationality or ethnic background of one co-worker. He had such a thick accent of English that most of the time I used to translate what he was saying to my American co-workers and boss.
But they could not get rid of him because he had good grip on his work and those kind of skills were hard to find , a few years back.

It’s funny though, cos when i’m speaking urdu with my parents, and i say an english word in the sentence, i’ll say it with a ‘‘pakistani accent’’… cos speaking in urdu and then saying a single word in a london accent just sounds stupid!

Ughh! The scottish accent is tolerable (even the edinburgh and glaswegian)… the ones that i cannot stand are the liverpudlian and novocastrian… people ooopp nooorth cannot speak!!!

I dont have an accent but I am somehow really good at picking up accents. Not intentionally all the time, but I normally end up speaking in the accent of whom I am speaking with, not the purest but close Its just how my mind is naturally programmed perhaps.

Yeah same with me… I guess its natural..

and since i have contact will all different types of people speaking all different languages.. Dutch, German, English, French, Arabic, Turkish, Polish, etc etc so I have gotten used to it. I will adapt to the level and the language of the person i’m talking to.. like the other day, i got a call from US and I was happily chatting away with them in American English.
