well i dont know about others but i feel that Jadeja and Robin shouldn’t have been part of Asia XI unless selectors had to pic then for indian public’s sake
To me YOUHANA is 200 times better then Jadeja and MAHMOOD is 10 times better then SINGH on given day under any sort of pressure.
Mark Waugh was good but not anymore and GIBBS should have been in.
Mahmood is injured.
He won't play the ODIs in the West Indies
and might miss the test series as well.
Some players weren't released by their
boards (eg. Ambrose) which might explain
some of the other omissions.
I wish Wasim luck in his final outing
as a captain on the world stage.
He is no Imran, but he always tried his
best when leading Pakistan and led us to victory in the Asian Test Championship,
where he was Man of the Series claiming
the most wickets, including two hattricks.
I think at this stage in his career
it is best for him to stay on as just
a player so that he can focus on his
own fitness in order to break Walsh's
record.
He can also work more on his batting.
If he gets 497 more runs he will become
only the fifth cricketer after Botham,
Hadlee, Imran and Kapildev to do the
double of 3000 runs and 300 wickets
in tests.
He is already the only player to
do the 3000-300 double in ODIs.
Read this interview with Wasim Akram taken in Sharjah after the final. It is about Wasim and his captaincy on how much pressure he had and how he is loving it now. http://www.rediff.com/sports/2000/apr/05akram.htm
