Do State run Channels always take a hit

because of private run channels?

I remember watching Doordarshan and indeed there was just one channel in the begining and then regional channels were introduced by the late 1980’s.A post 1993 has witnessed a surge in channels and now it’s a spate .I do not think anyone watches D.D these days.Is it the same with countries where you live?

Re: Do State run Channels always take a hit

I used watch doordershan for the movies they used to play on weekend nights. 98-2002 i guess, we are near the lahore border so the reception was good. i remember they used to air funny chitarhar countdowns around 8 pm

pretty much same story in Pakistan. With truck loads of private channels competing for bigger viewership slice of the pie, hardly anyone turns to PTV these days.

We used to watch DD during 90~93 for same stuff. English movie and an english weekend round-up produced by NDTV on Friday night. I dont remember the name but it was good. After that (94 onwards) we switched to STN/NTM for english movies and sitcoms. They were good :k:

During late 80s PTV used to show best english series (airwolf, Mcgyver, 6 million dollar man) but later on they were just okey.

yes  That was during 95-96 … :hehe:
