Do shi'a s perform hajj?

ok,lemme make this clear–THIS IS A PURE, “OUT OF CURIOSITY” QUESTION!!

DO THEY OR DONT THEY?
I HAVENT SEEN ANYONE I KNOW (SHIA) THAT HAS EVEN TALKED ABOUT HAJJ…THATS WHY THIS THOUGHT WAS GIVEN RISE TO IN MY MIND…

They do.I've seen many shia's visit Makkah and Medinah in and other than the time of Hajj.Shia's do believe in the five pillars of islam i.e. Tauheed,Namaz,Roza,Zakaat and Hajj.

Excuse me while I go and bang my head against the wall!

Next thing you will know a question comes…

“Do Shias pray namaz?”

**Yes dear, they do.

And btw...
During the Hajj, every Moslem prays Namaz with their arms open (straight down) like the Shias do, not fold them like the Sunis...
!!!

Pakistan99: Really ??

I don't think so.

all the haajji pray Zohar and Assar prayer together at hajj like the SHIA’s…all the haajji pray Maghrib and Isha together at arafat like the SHIA’s..is the sun different then ?

X commi thats a silly question but of course they do.

We have a Shia neighbour and we asked her some questions about Shiaism and she did not mind at all.

The only difference in Hajj for Shia's is that women don't need a Mehram (male partner) to accompany them to Hajj like Sunni's do. Everything else is basically the same...

**Yes, Really.

Malik Jee, thank you to you too, for understanding the facts...**

sherazz what is that supposed to mean?please refrain from cheap propaganda stints.Let's be serious about things here. And you accuse sunnis of saying things without proper knowledge.

ahmed what dont u understand about it??? sunnis ask why shia combine their prayers..so this is the answer..get it?

Pakistani99, Could you provide references if EVERYONE prays like that? Please. Thanks.

----*Priest-OF- Painful Truth*----

That's your 'attempt' at the answer sherazz. All hajis wear ihraam and sunnis combine prayers at times other than hajj too.If you were to address that question you'd need to address several things.Like times of prayer, why 5? the practice of the prophet(pbuh) etc.Don't bother though as i'm not asking why shia do it.

pakistan99, X_Communist,

Refrain from making personal attacks. Offensive and insultive language is not appreciated nor tolerated on this forum.

Well, I already knew that prayers are prayed together during Hajj. My question was different.

Pakistan99 wrote: "During the Hajj, every Moslem prays Namaz with their arms open (straight down) like the Shias do, not fold them like the Sunis...".

I don't believe this statement to be true. And that is why I asked "Really?". Can anyone clarify.......

Just a matter of information, there are certain sunnis who regularly pray like that (arms straight down). They are some Maaliki followers, who do it bcz they believe Imam Malik performed prayers like that. My information is that Imam Malik was severly tortured in his time, so much so, that his hands were beaten with canes. This resulted in paralysis of his hands and he couldn't life them up. He, therefore, prayed namaaz with his hands down. However for others to do likewise, to me, seems strange, especially if the Prophet (SAWW) didn't pray like that at the most mature form of Islam (in his last years and days).

So, praying arms down is not a shia thing. I have seen shias who pray with arms down, or some who pray with arms on the chest or some who pray with arms on the waist. So, obviously each of these groups follows some interpretation or the other. This simple act is neither sunni or shia, in origin.

My question remains, whether all those who perform hajj, pray like that (arms straight down), or was it a misstatement on the part of Pakistan99?

**Sorry…

Dear Pristine Jee,
I’m really sorry that I cannot provide you with sufficient information that Hajj prayers are made with open arms by everyone, therefore, I regret having told you this in the first place…
You know, sometimes even the surest things are found to be false… it happens, I’m sorry!

Anyway, for more information about the Shia sect, all on a single page, goto http://www2.mozcom.com/~habib/islamstu.htm
