I am organising my brothers wedding and am really confused…Do girls sit on the floor for dholkhi in the actual mehndi functions nowadays???
Re: Do people still sit on floor in Mehndi functions?
For most of the dholkis I have gone to I have seen both seatings. The chairs on the side, and sheets on the floor. Most people come and sit on the chairs until they fill up, than they sit on the floor, and than everyone moves to the floor when it comes time to play the dholki. The same for the mehindi. I have seen the bride and groom sit on chairs not the floor for the mehindi.
I hope that made sense... lol
Re: Do people still sit on floor in Mehndi functions?
^ Ya I was going to say the same. Chairs are usually always there and people always tend to first sit there, but as the singing starts, they tend to migrate to the floor to sit around the dhol player and sing with her. Looks nice too when you set a "floor stage" with nice cushions etc. Some people will always prefer to sit on chairs, so better to have both options, especially for elder people

YEs^^^ some older people can sit in the floor due to arthritis and other problems, so it's always best to have both options.

If you are going to be serving dinner then chairs and tables may be needed.
