I swear, talk to any of those “hotshot” MBA types from Pakistan, and every other word from their mouth is MNC.

For those who don’t know, MNC = Multi National Corporation.

What are the benefits of working for an MNC? Are there Pakistani MNCs?

Yes…there is one started by a Pakistani Mr Riaz Waraich…

He took cotton grown in USA and made yarn from it in Lahore Pakistan…then exported it back

Later on he started making antifreeze for cars…

The Company name is Old World Industries…

Well… the reason is the strong presence of MNCs in Pakistan – e.g. Unilever Corp. and Philips. These are corporations that are globally recognized but have a self-sufficient presence in Pakistan and other countries. Hence, people often use the term MNC very loosely to refer to companies with a global presence. The prime example of an MNC in the subcontinent can be traced to the East India Company… and it has obviously affected the industry landscape of India and Pakistan.

The western world typically talks about “global” companies instead and although sometimes an MNC and a global firm can be used interchangeably, the latter have a more centralized structure where the parent company helps devise strategies for all its global concerns.

^^ but it seems like the attitude in Pakistan is that if you are not working for one of these MNCs, then you are a stupid loser.
