if u extend the logic further, it never existed even after mughal rule.....and not even many countries existed and so did yours !
Okay..lemme answer...even though there were many kingdoms from north to south, culturally we were all the same (barring pakistan) and all those kingdoms had not just faught with each other but also had made allignments with each other during some point in history as well.

At same time they regard india as "God's will" or destiny or some higher level reality.

I'm part Pakistani and part Indian. I'm fully Canadian though. Hence, Canadian is the only identity I truly associate with.

none... pakistan(as we know it know) was never gulam... it didnt exist before 1947. pakistan was created in 1947. India (divided and undivided) got independence from british . Pakistan was never slave of India so no question of getting independence from india.
Correction: Pakistan was created AND got independence from British as that area was under Brit rule until then.

Reminds me of a person i met during a course in London, he asked me where i am from, i said from Pakistan, then i asked him back, where he is from and he replies, i am from Sussex. I said, hmm... i am surprised, coz you look like an Indian.
He never talked to me after that.

That was a different case. That was a fully Indian guy running away from his Indian identity. I'd like to call myself part Indian and part Pakistani but that is too controversial and complicated for people to understand here. Idiots still keep poking anti-india crap at me and asking me to justify Indian actions or Indian stands... which I don't want to do. If an American attacks India, I'll defend India as an Indian. If an American attacks Pakistan, I will defend Pakistan as a Pakistani. But if an Indian attacks Pakistan or if a Pakistani attacks India I can't help but want to stay out of it and be neutral. Get it?
