No, I honestly don't believe they do. Especially if people have different interests, what you will find is that there will be so many differences of desires and that will be a turn-off. How can you enjoy activities together when both you and the person you are with have different things that they enjoy? It doesn't make too much sense huh? :P
I think that the only time opposites attract sometimes is during those phases when good girls want to go for bad boys. But that's more of the excitement associated with that. For a goody-two-shoes, it may be exhilarating to be with someone like that. But I don't think that there can be an ultimate strong connection between people of these sorts because at the end it just boils down to the fact that there will be many differences in character.
On the whole, I'd say that a few opposite characteristics DO attract but many don't.

I don't think so at all. How can people with two entirely different personalities get along? I know if my husband was a complete opposite of me, I'd be miserable. The more important thing is to complement each other. It's important to have similar likes and dislikes but when one spouse is angry the other needs to calm down and when one is down, the other should lift their spirits.

I agree with Sahr and qtc. I am not sure in what context this phrase is used for personality match, but unless you have major similarities, its hard to be compatible.

Opposite attract but similar stick together.
Sometimes we like others because we see traits in their personality that we lack. For example an introvert probably get attracted to someone who is very confident and outgoing but in the long run there will be conflict between those two.

I believe opposites attract as in the other person has what you lack. They potentially even make for the best relationships out there. I believe so.
But then assuming I could have a good relationship with someone who never works out and tries to eat right? Just don't see that happening either.

No they don't. Psychological studies point out to a trend.
-Good looking guys go for very good looking girls
-Average guys go for good looking and v. good looking girls
-Ugly guys go for average and good looking girls.
-Unfortunately, if a girl is not physically attractive/beautiful, she gets little attention from men regardless of their appearance.
Now for women:
-Good looking women go for average or good looking guys (generally)
-Average looking women would settle for even ugly guys (personality means more)
-Ugly women would go for anything (even if it is other ugly men).
*These are general tendencies and desires. But obviously it varies and at the end, the world is not superficial in its entirety so there are exceptions. A kind, warm heart can win anybody's love. Personality plays a strong role, but this is just about initial attraction and pursuance according to physical appearance only.

Opposites do attract. Lately, I noticed that I attracted to a girl by her confidence and this attraction is increasing day by day. I have seen number of girls and they all look same, but in her instance I cannot resist anymore. The way she speaks, sits, and looks, it all makes special feeling in me for her and now completely stick in my brain 
Having different interests and activities should not matter in attraction as long as you both can value, respect, and adopt.

I think so. Me and the husband have the same way of thinking in the sense of morals, family values etc. But we are opposites in personality, I'm an introvert and he's more out spoken. He's hot headed where as I'm not. He's into sport, i hate it. I think if your core values etc are the same then everything else is minor.

But often it's not the best situation for a long-term relationship. It depends on whether the things that are "opposite" are very big.

But often it's not the best situation for a long-term relationship. It depends on whether the things that are "opposite" are very big.
Agreed with the first bit.
Guy: Fairly reserved. Doesn't get along with a lot of people and is pretty anti-social from the outset. There's absolutely no acknowledging jokes or sarcasm from his end. Prime example of what a bored man is like.
Girl: Vocal. And Is fairly social as well. Won't think twice while she subjects you with all the monkey tricks she could pull just so she could make you laugh/smile. Concisely put, is a firecracker by all means.

You mean a brown skinned guy paired up with a black girl? If so then that does seem fairly unworkable from what I've managed to skim through in life. A bit too many things to change for the relationship to be considered a remarkably maintained one imho.
