This question has been in the back of my mind for quite some time. It seems by reading the news these days, muslims have no problem with killing one another. I was always led to believe that if you were a muslim, then you belonged to one team, let’s say “Team Allah”, and that the idea behind this team was unity and cohesion for the sake of religion.
Why then, do members on the same team fight each other for power and influence? This defeats the whole purpose of being on a Team. I don’t get it.

In certain areas of the world TeamAllah has been divided into two conferences - the SNC (Sunni National Conference) and the NSC (Non Sunni Conference). They are battling it out in the Super Bowl of sectarian conflicts.

Even in places without security do you rarely see the type of random and mass killings that you see in Iraq. Sorry, lack of security is not the root cause of this violence.

Name me those places. Do you know what is going on in New Orleans? Is it because they are black or lack of security?

There was no mass killings in New Orleans, was their looting and theft? Sure, but people weren't randomly going around killing one another. 70% of murders in New Orleans today are drug related, people aren't going out and killing groups of people because of their sect (unless your in a gang, but then those targeted and killed are other gang members, not innocent bystandards like we are seeing in Iraq).

a psychotic minority on each side believes the other can be killed, sadly there are too many others who are not into violence themselves but justify the actions of these groups or look the other way. some because of apathy or lack of interest, others because of fear of the militants, some due to selfishness..i.e. dunn hurt me so I dont need to bother.

Those killings are result of malitia and Saddam loyalists. If security is there, violence will decrease.

Muslims can't really come to the rescue to solve the problem - if you get too involved in religious affairs, especially international ones, and you're not working on the US agenda, you're likely to get labelled as a terrorist. I think its that fear that drives the apathy. No one wants to be labelled a terrorist and then be thrown into Gitmo.

PCG while some apathy may be due to fear of gitmo or fear of militants, much of the apathy is just built in people's psyche, either because they feel that what they do does not matter, or because of selfishness.
If it was apathy in just religio-political matters I would have been more apt to accept that but its extends into every aspect of our society. moaning and groaning is a
really, ow many mohalla's have you seen woth trash in front of them and young guys just wasting time every evening sitting around smoking , aving sodas, playing street cricket etc. sure they can take one day out each month to just clear the place.
That is just one example.

This is an example of class consciousness (or indignity of labor) where middle class (or any class above poor) kids don't want to do things that are associates with untouchables of the society.
A country that needs people to solve their own problems, this mindset ("I am too good for this kind of work") is worst than cancer or apathy.

Islam prohibits , tortures, killings , murders, bombings, suicides and all kinds of intentional sufferings not just for muslims but for non-muslims equally .......................... those who're doing all this under banner of Islam r just so-called , low standard muslims .................................. how could anyone enjoys that ???

In my area's poorer neighborhoods where most of the crime and violence occur, it is common to see people drinking beer on the porch all day long while trash is piled in the yard, paint is peeling from the house and plants are dying. They aren't motivated to keep their house in respectable shape , they surely aren't out trying to stop the crime and violence in their neighborhood. But it is common to hear how the system and the man is against them and that they need help. Same kinda thing?

SeMi- that applies to some areas, the poor areas.
L-I. has noted the other fact, the " I am too good for this" and "this is not my problem" has reached epic proportions in that country. this is true for teh rest of the population at large. There are exceptions, but the general trend is what I noted.

Muslims have killed each other with far more brutality than people of other religions! And this seriously put in doubt - Islam being the peaceful religion!

its because the masses have stayed mum as the extremists take charge.
the people who have done most of these killings, they were dong this crap before that area was muslim, and they are doing that now. if they was no such thing as religion, they would be killing each other based on mccartney ad lennon disputes.
cuz if a unch of idiots killing others changes the religion then all religions are in doubt.
sorry i would write more but I have to go out and kill some other muslim,s you know..being muslim and all, cant sleep unless I gun down atleast a couple of shias and sunnis.
