For those who had something to say against my post - you guys are idiots. Obviously i was being sarcastic. This topic just sounded so dumb so i gave it a sarcastic response.
And even tho i listed all those as a joke, they still do exist and have seen some of them personally but i didn't mean the ENTIRE gora population suffers from those. Seriously...you guys need to chill out.
And yes, i know tons of gora's b/c i was born and raised in the US and have always lived in a predominantly gora town.
Now the question about who lives more carefree lives? I say Pakistani men live JUST as CAREFREE lives as the gora's. It's only the girls that are expected to be conservative.
So to answer your question - OVERALL - only girls don't live carefree lives... nothing to do with gora and desis.
not true, desi men in general have more responsibilities in general they are more focused on kids future and also have responsibilities towards parents and sometimes siblings etc. This is not to say that gora men dont have these responsibilities, but not as often.
now teh whole girls versus guys being carefree, thats just wrong.

I can tell you that goras (at least the ones I have worked with) are more carefree with their money.
They will spend big bucks on photography because of style and technique, whereas other communities would haggle much more and be more conservative with their spending.

Putting aside all the junk about wutta-sutta and Jerry Springer storylines, as well as the arguments of who is so much better, etc., etc.---
from my gori point of view---
Both cultures overall suffer from a general imbalance.
In desi culture, the attitude is very collectivist. So individual needs, aspirations, etc., very often are undervalued and people have to sacrifice a lot of their own identity in order to keep a whole list of people 'happy.' Hence the emotional stress of feeling responsibility for everyone's happiness, the emotional manipulation, worrying about what people will think about every decision, etc. Almost everyone has a story of a dream they couldn't pursue, or on the other hand, something they were forced to do because of what others demanded/expected.
In gora culture, we have the opposite---the collective is undervalued. People are encouraged to realize their personal dreams, aspirations, etc., but often at the cost of doing what's best for the family, being insensitive to parents' or other family members' needs, suggestions, etc. So although we are able to enjoy a lot of freedoms that allow us to become more 'self-actualized', it can be at the cost of our relationships with others. So in western societies you see a much greater sense of alienation with people (watch any American indie movie and they all seem to be dealing somehow with this theme of alienation), and yes, weaker family units.
I think both sides can learn from each other and strike a healthier balance in their lives.
Well said NYCGori. Both cultures have their pros and cons. I personally think the younger generation desis living abroad have the best of both worlds since most of us have a strong support system as well as opportunities to excel in any field.

The challenge is that this is not the only difference. the overall happiness is tied to a mix of things, more personal independence at the cost of closer family and community connections, more ability to do what you want at the cost of less support ae just a couple in this vain, then you have a different culture, societal expectations and even lifestyle, and in the end it is a personal thing too.
My view is the a healthy balance is what gives you ingredients that help in an overall happy life.
