Just curious. I know all designers have their darzis who do it for them. But do they also know how to sew and stitch?

Im sure the ones who have been to fashion school know it all, don’t know about the ones who just wake up one morning and decide to become a designer

I think they have to know it...even if htey dont do it personally. They should know hwo the fabric comes together, what looks good where etc.
Actually Maliha Rao a LSFD student amongst many more don't know how to stich/sew..to attach materials they use pins! As much as I LOVE Umar Sayeed, he doesn't either..he knows all the traditional "cuts" and "kaam" though!

most of them dont learn how to sew. they assign tailors. they pinch/pleat/drape and the tailor does the sewing and the adday wala does the embroidering.
