Do desi people need sun block if we wanna tan up?

Hey, so I was looking to tan up (mainly just arms and torso), face is already pretty tan, but everything else is pale in comparison, so I was “tanning” the other day (here in ireland) for a few hours, dont think i got sun burnt, but didnt really get the tan i expected, we dont get much sun here, and that was my first time getting a tan, if i’m to do it again, should i use something incase i get sun burn or if i want more tan?

You need sun block to prevent skin damage! Not just to prevent sun burn.

I always used to boast that us desis and black people have extra melanin so we dont need all that kinda stuff...... but okay, think I'll invest in some, whats a good sun block :O? (I'm a total newbie at this, I've been bodybuilding for a while so I thought I'd start showing off after getting a tan :/) whats this factor 30 and factor 60 I hear about o.O, thanks!

melanin production is the body's way of protecting it from UV rad. A sun block will contain physical blockers (i.e. Zinc Oxide) to act as a barrier to the UVA and UVB radiation. SPF sunscreens mainly block UVB. SPF is just a measure of effectiveness. Sun block will probably stop you tanning. Sun screen will allow you to tan (will probs be a bit slower) but doesn't really offer proper protection against UVA. SPF 30 is probably okay.

thanks alot! yeah I think i'll invest in some sun screen, I guess there are always risks invloved though :O, but we get like 10 sunny days a year so might as well make a most of them :O

Don’t try to get a tan by going out in the sun exposed. Don’t use tanning beds either. Both are very harmful :no:

sunscreen, if you want to tan and protect your skin.

why don't just use some tanning paint/spray or something...........u can't show ur moobs all the time can u??

I’ve never entertained the thought of a tanning bed, they arent very popular here either and alot of them have been closed down due to tighter regulation by the government
