Do Assigned Seating Charts Actually Work at Desi Weddings?

Re: Do Assigned Seating Charts Actually Work at Desi Weddings?

would never work! i remember going to a valima function here and it was in a beautiful hall. They had arranged tables and seats but we could sit anywhere we wanted. So our family sat at a table and then it was dinner time so we got up to take food,, and when we were back some other aunties had taken our seats even though there was lots of space around ... really frustrating!

At least half of the weddings I've been to (if not more) have had placecards and assigned seating...usually at weddings that also had plated dinners rather than buffets - and it's worked well all but a few of them. I prefer it - finding a seat is less of a free for all, and you don't need to worry about losing your seat if you get up for 5 mins.

At the end of the day I think you have to take a look at your guest list and decide for yourself. If your guests are disorganized people with a more "traditional" mindset, then it might not work as well for you.
