Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

Arghh… Why o why do people open a door for you when you are half way across the hallway and you have to run or speed up like a mo-fo so they don’t have to wait for you? And ofcouse they want you to thank them since you are obliged to do so. It’s one thing to be polite and not slam the door in your face when you are right behind them but seriously, why would you hold the door open when I am at least 20 ft away from you?

I do :@:

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

do you know that....

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

doesn't really bother me if someone is holding a door for me even if i'm 25 feet away, i think it's a nice gesture.

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

Are you always such a brat?

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

^well yes to answer your question :d. But not only is it annoying I think it's an inconvenience for the person holding the door for you. You won't notice until it happens to you repeatedly. If anything it makes you feel rushed. I have spilled my coffee a lot because of this lol!

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

m

same here.

this is a perfect example of diff ways of looking at things; glass half full or hall empty.

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

^no not really, I think I am being more thoughtful when I say it's an inconvenience for them. Its not like I have an issue holding a door for anybody. I would hate to have someone wait for me and the whole scene jut gets really awkward. it's ok if it happens once in a while, it does get annoying when it happens constantly. Don't hold the bathroom door for me when I am 20 ft away, there's a reason why I am walking the way I am. I am not trying to be mean, sheesh

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

Maybe you should just re-route, it will teach them by embarassing them that they held the door open for nobody....and after 1 minute go through the door and past the person who held the door open for you....do this for a week to a month, to see a change.

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

Is your name theorist (as in one who applies theory) or The Orist?

If its latter then it makes no sense. Please change it.

I cant answer your question because I dont annoy people.

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

Don’t go to the door…go back..and make this face while going away from the door :mocking:

I think its a nice gesture........

.....and if you don't wanna feel "rushed" and this is the same person doing it repeatedly , then just slow down and walk at your pace , don't spill the coffee and let them continue to hold the door......... either they will not do it again next time or you will have a personal door-person for life .......U win both ways - Problem Solved !**

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

they knw they r being annoying ;)

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

i do and i enjoy knowing it :)

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

AGREED.
I knew this guy who thought it was chivalrous to open the door for girls every single freaking time and would hold the door open at least 5 minutes before you'd get there, also holding peoples bags, like get off my bag dude. I think everyone felt bad telling him to stop because he was only being polite, eventually we all just learned to walk at our own pace, even if it meant he was holding it open till his arm went numb. Meh.

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

Just thank him and go inside. Why get annoyed over such a small matter. Just walk at your own pace. He will get the message (hopefully)

Re: Do annoying people know they are being annoying?

Moral of the story - always with your (coffee) glass half full
