DJ for wedding

Can anybody recommend a good DJ for a wedding? I don’t think there will be any dancing at the reception, so we just need some decent Bolly/Lolly songs for the reception.

Anybody?

Re: DJ for wedding

personally unless there is no dancing..i hiring a dj is waste of money...u shoudl just make a couple of really good cds (perferablly non stop..meaing no gaps)...and rent a really good system....ive been to so many wedding where the dj plays the gayest songs (and sometimes inappropriate ones too...)...and plays them over and over again for the whole night....
last year on my brother's wedding, we hired a dj...and i never trust dj to play good songs...so i made some cds for him to play...and he did just that...that was probably the easiest money he made...all he did was press play...
this year for my other's brother's wedding (they are twins)...on the mehndi, i made some non stop mehndi and dancing cds, and we rented a really good system....a lot better than hiring a dj...and for the wedding, we had a dj, but I had specifically given him a list of what songs to play, and i made sure he had them all....but come the wedding, he only played a few songs..and the rest were his own choice, and he ended up playing those the whole night!!!!

so my advice...screw the dj....rent a good system and make ur own cds...

Re: DJ for wedding

hmm, where would I rent a sound system from?

Re: DJ for wedding

Mehnaz ask your hall where the event is a lot of hotels and wedding venues have music systems that they can rent out for the wedding.

Re: DJ for wedding

sooraj, the hall doesn't provide it which is why I need to get a dj/sound system. That is the only down side about this hall. Otherwise everything else is good. I'm talking about Maple Banquet Hall here, that is the one we went with.

Re: DJ for wedding

i'll ask my brother...he's the one that rented the system....when is the wedding? pm me...

Re: DJ for wedding

It's on the first weekend of March.

Re: DJ for wedding

Re: DJ for wedding

Every asian DJ isn't good at private gigs, and Pakistani parties r esp. more difficult to do. U need to find a professional/experienced one who has been doing well for a while, and not just someone who DJs for a hobby. That's first, then when u meet up with him make sure u give him a proper wedding program and a official playlist of songs that U want. And if u don't know excatly wot songs u want, u can give him an idea by making a CD of ur fave songs, and then give that to him so he will get a feel for wot sort of wedding it's going to be. If he'll be ur MC also, make sure u r very open with him and give him all the names and times...it will make it easier on the big nite. Find one who u feel comfortable with and one who puts u at ease at this already nerve-wrecking time. There r a lot of good pro DJs out there, BUT U HAVE TO SPEND MONEY FOR THAT...u get wot u paid for.

My fiance's been in this business for over a decade now, and if's out of range then i'm sure he can give a good recommendation (depending where this venue is). Lemme know, and i'll give u a name/telephone no. if ur interested.

Re: DJ for wedding

i want the info. too
can u also provide the list of the songs? if u dont mind
thanks...
