DIY project, please share!

My glass etching project:

For my best friend’s bridal shower I couldn’t figure out what to give as the favor. Nothing that I liked fit in the budget. So I got an idea from something I saw online. The theme was Greek Goddess, and laurel leaf wreath was the main focus.

Cost of the project, about $50 for 24 glasses. $20 for the etching kit and laurel leaf wreath stencil, $20 for 2dozen wine glasses and another $10 for labels, and ribbon.

here are the results:

This took me no time at all, and all i had to do was apply the stencil on the glass, tape it on and make sure there are no bubbles. Apply the etching solution on the cutout area. Leave it on for 2 minutes. Rinse it off with a wet sponge. Remove the stencil and that’s it

what do you guys think?

Re: DYI project, please share!

Looks amazing and beautiful. The best gift one can give. How did you prepare the etching solution?

But I wouldn’t waste anything on decorating wine glasses. :disgust: Anything but wine glasses.

Re: DYI project, please share!

thank you prince, the etching kit i bought already came with the cream. It was somthing like this: Armour Products Glass Etching Starter Kit | Staples®

at this bridal shower i was the only muslim and the only person who didn’t drink alcohol. So the wine glasses were perfect. I have also etched coffee mugs for the office staff (as christmas gifts.)

Re: DIY project, please share!

How do you know all those stuff? Where did you learn? Did you take classes?

Re: DIY project, please share!

I did a lot of reserach and thougth etching glasses would be fun. The cost to get something etched is crazy high here in the US. So I wanted to do it myself. Watch couple of youtube videos and learned that its pretty easy to do. The kit itself has step by stel direction on it.

Re: DIY project, please share!

It would be nice, if you can post those Youtube videos here.
