So i’m going to buy some more memory for my laptop, either that or smash it.
…anyway, is memory easy to install, i mean can i carry out the installation with say rubber gloves when i’m holding the RAM sticks or no?

Re: DIY Memory Installation
lol you don’t need to be IT geek to do it. ![]()
It’s fairly easy. For laptops, the ram compartment is located under the laptop. Locate it, unscrew it, and the memory stick should just slide out if you pull it gently. Replace it with the new one, and make sure it is secured, do not push it too hard or you may damage the ram or slot. Close the compartment with cover and screws. Start your PC.
Refer to User Manual for exact location of the memory slot.
Re: DIY Memory Installation
So there's no settings to be done with BIOS or anything yes?
Re: DIY Memory Installation
If the memory is compatible, there shouldn't be any additional tweaking necessary. I only installed it once for a friend and his Laptop booted right up, and the added memory registered.
I would let some others come and share their view as well.
Re: DIY Memory Installation
Memory size is not a BIOS setting. System checks it at every boot up. Just plug it in and your system should be good to go.
Re: DIY Memory Installation
i always buy my ram from there. Just enter your pc/laptop make & model and it’ll tell you which kind you need
oh and no rubber gloves required. If its a pc, when you remove the side panel, just give the inside metal side of the side panel a brief touch and you should be earthed. Good idea not to wear anything woolly.
Re: DIY Memory Installation
some fo the IBM/Lenovo laptops have memory slots under the keyboard. actually under the pal rest area..... which is somewaht difficult to open, cause Mouse Pad is attached to that area as well.
else, for other laptops memory addition is easy/.

DO NOT use rubber gloves, you will only multiply the chances of static charge build up. using bare hands is a better option than that. just make sure you do not touch the components & exposed terminals.
