i got an old p4 1.8 ghz machine with a ati all in wonder pro 8500 dv gfx, 512 ram, 80 gig hard drive, tv tuner, dvd rw, cd - basically a fully loaded machine its a bit outdated but its still competent.
i want to set this up with my tv and make this into a dvr i got all the cables and wiring and upgrades that i possibly need.
i searched google and i found tons of stuff on diy dvrs/pvrs…
does anyone know of a good program out there? or a good how to setup file?
keeping in mind that i wana hook up my dishnetwork system to this.

There is a Linux distro out there called MythTV (http://www.mythtv.org/). I’ve been meaning to test it out, but haven’t yet. I hear its very straightforward to setup.

i've narrowed it down to myth tv or windows media center edition.
i've got a ati all in wonder pro 8500 dv, and the image being displayed on my 52 inch tv from the video card (via s-video) isn't the best quality with big black borders on the lower and left hand side of the screen.
