divorce

Hi

I have this question regarding divorce, i have personaly not done any research on the topic in any depth, so i would be really greatful if someone would fill me up with this.

If a man wants a divorce he can give a divorce to his wife very easily as far as i have seen and heard, but on the other hand if a woman wants a divorce from her husband and the husband is not willing to divorce her how does she get around it and what does islam state on this issue???

Re: divorce

She does that under the process called KHULA, whereby she agrees to return her dower to her husband for a divorce.

Khula allows a woman to ask for the divorce but it is still the man that terminates the marriage.

For details pls refer to:

An Islamic marriage can end in annulment or in divorce.

Divorce is easy for a man to initiate, whereas a woman needs a court to initiate a divorce.

An annulment (khula) is easy for a woman to initiate, whereas a man needs a court to initiate an annulment.

Well that's the dummies guide to it, giving just a very brief overview.
