Yup with the explanation lethal provided and with some of my own searching indeed its not that if the wife is preg and the husband divorces her then the divorce will not take place since she is preg. the divorce will take place any way. It is “aisa karne se parhaiz farmaya hai” rather than prohibited (because as you said) it is cruel to divorce her in this state plus may be they unite back while the man is waiting for the delivery.
