Dividing Islam into Sects

Re: Dividing Islam into Sects

You people are missing the point. There should be no argument over who is right. It is pointless to argue because there are certain referances that people in other sects of Islam do not believe to be authentic, therefore they follow what they believe is right.
However, I am a bit confused as to whether the ones who believe they are following the correct path but in actuality are not will recieve punishment or not. Allah(swt) guides us based on our intentions, however, in the Hadith that Sadiyah posted it said the Prophet Muahmmad (pbuh) stated that "seventy-two [sects] are in the Fire and one in Paradise".
Can someone please clarify (without being biased, if that's possible)?
