again the downside, you get to learn the language and cant help it but be able to read it 
For instance I never learned farsi (persian) but can read it withour any difficulty, because i was taught to read and write urdu. Similarly i think people who can read arabic in arabic script should be able to read urdu or farsi too ? no ?
