In an ideal society, if we all go by the recommendation of shariah and take care of the people closest to us first, almost everyone will be taken care of. I know we all want to help as many as we can, but its better to s tart with one family at a time. Its just my personal opinion.

yes…closet to you…including your siblings BUT NOT including your parents…your parents are your responsibility so Zakaat can NOT be given to Parents.

however, i do NOT help people i know closely with zakaat money because it may be embarassing to them if they ever find out…i help them with money i set aside for Sadaqaaat…mostly, helping people with treatment back home.
