The Sultan, far from becoming drunk with power, seemed to feel that his new responsibilities demanded more and more restraint. At the famous siege of Acre several years later the most colorful of Saladin’s adversaries, Richard the Lion Hearted, violated an agreement and slaughtered the city’s entire 3,000-man garrison. Saladin apparently forgave Richard this villainy: during a later skirmish in front of Jaffa, Richard’s horse was killed under him and Saladin sent him a steed to replace it, with the message: “It is not right that so brave a warrior should have to fight on foot.”

I know a bit about Paurava(Porus), Raja Dahir but not about Hosh Muhammed Sheedi. Can you please open a thread where we can learn more about pak/desi heroes who united the people and fought invaders from outside the subcontinent and became legends/heroes/unsung heroes ? :)

I think history is distorted all over the world. In England templers and knights who were involved in atrocities during Crusades are presented glamorously. In the words of karen Armstrong ’ It is very difficult to step out from that glamour, when people search for the facts’.

This is not true … The only way the Knights Templars have been portrayed is either as heretics, or as strange mysterious beings … Only recently in modern pop culture and film have they been given a shiny light.

Interestingly enough there are nuances in both American and Australian law that gives the natives a lot of rights, because their laws have acknowledged the atrocities at least even if their history has not entirely done so.

The most fabricated part of Pakistani history is not actually on the pre-independence era, but really the period between 1920 to 1975 is full of manipulated history.
