You dont have to go for an autogenerated ID. You dont even have to go to the site first. Simply go to any site. Think up an ID, and use it as an email address with @mailinator.com. Any ID will do. Then simply go to mailinator.com, and check up the mail for that ID.

2- sometimes you need to reset passwd on websites, how would you visit their confirmation link when the address you used to register is already expired?

The address expires only if there is no incoming mail for it for a while. If you use a certain email ID today, it will expire after a few hours. But it will be activated again as soon as someone sends an email to that ID. It doesnt expire forever.

3- not all websites being maintained by idiots, what if someday it becomes a trend to ban @mailinator.com and similar domains for signup?

Thats a valid point. I havent come across any site that specifically forbids mailinator.com email addresses, but there are plenty of sites that forbid all free email accounts, whether yahoo, hotmail or mailinator.
