So I have been friends with Christians Hindu and sikhs.
In there houses, they display sculptures, picture(icons)
I always thought it as tangible, from of their god.
Easy to ensure, through ain-ul-yaqeen kind of thing.
I always thought real thing is to have, perception of his presence, be held inside a person. Not in the form of objects, but Like inside your soul.
Now reason I am saying all that, yesterday for first time I bought a aiat-ul-kursi display, and put it in the house. (never had any display before, not here not in the family house in pak)
When I look at it I feel same tangible feeling which Christians must feel when they look at their icons.
How is it different then displaying surah/ayiats in the house ?
Am I wrong now, was I wrong before ?
Any wisdom on that ? from hadees perhaps ?
displaying Qur'aanic aayaats or Allah N Rasool's names is a good thing because it reminds you about how you faithful you have been to your own faith. you evaluate yourself and think about what you are lacking.
however, best place to have Qur'aan is in your own heart ... one should strive to manifest/incorporate it's teachings in your life. it's a constant struggle with self [jihaad fil nafs].
If the tangible display reminds you or your guests to mentally say the verses then why not though similarly popular random Khana Kaaba doors displays are truly unacceptable.
I have a feeling even calligraphy will be considered an innovation and be prohibited. If the sahaba who were the most pious didn't do this than there is no need for us to go beyond.

May i know what was wrong before not displaying it,
Assalamualaikum
May i know what was wrong before not displaying it,
JazakAllah
never thought about displaying.
Like when ever we made efforts to understand islam, displaying some thing
never came up any where.
Now it was to support mosque, so I bought one.
Since then I like it, but perhaps I am getting into same tangible feeling thing.
Alright, may Allah increase our emaan Ameen, i never find anything wrong in displaying ayat or hadith at home, i like to decorate home by these ayat and hadith, they are sometimes reminder, like in madarsa when i see any hadith or ayat they remind me of things i forget.
