Disney World, Florida

Has anyone been to Florida by car from NJ/NY?

Last time we went by plane, that was 8 yrs ago. This time we are thinking of driving there cuz the tics are pricey.

Anyone drove there? Do you recommend? Any suggestions?

Re: Disney World, Florida

My uncle drove from ohio to tampa couple years back and they didn't have any problem. Just make sure you stop in b/w, especially at night (stop and spend the night at some motel and give yourself some rest so you won't get too exausted and stay fresh) and two or more drivers are always better as one person won't get too tired.

Re: Disney World, Florida

why dont u drive from NY to west virginia... stop there for a day or two and see the european busch gardens (the one in tampa is the african theme).. and then drive on to florida and visit disney? that way you'll have a break in between and see somet new.

Re: Disney World, Florida

West Virginia - is on our way - hmmm?! will talk about this with hubby - since we need a stop anyways...

It's a 24 hour drive from NJ to FL... (could this be exaggerated? - I really did not check)

Re: Disney World, Florida

i went by amtrak from NY to Fla, and it took abt 24 hrs. i think by car it may be arnd 20 hrs or so.... so ur estimate isn't an exaggeration. not sure if WV is directly on ur route.. u may have to step off the route a bit, just check it out as a potential stop.

We did a Detroit to Oralndo Car Trip few years back. It was great. We did stop in the middle, in TN I think. If you are staying in the hotels in Orlando, don’t forget Priceline. We got Hyat in Kissime for for like $45 or so and it was a $150 hotel. Check out this forum for what people are getting in Orlando using priceline.

Re: Disney World, Florida

If you have older kids - not a problem drive.

Things you can do on the drive for stops Washington D.C, Tenesse (Smokey mountains) beautiful drive, Atlanta, Orlando.

It's too much of a stretch in one day - I would recomend a stop in between.

If you don't have much time - then fly from LGA - take spiritair - it's pretty cheap
