Disney Vacation in Florida

What are the must to do and not to dos?

What are the advantages to stay within the Disney resort? What services are provided?

Which parks are good for ages 8 and 6.

Are there some things like fast track not to wait in lines?

Re: Disney Vacation in Florida

If your girls are still in that princess phase, they will love magic kingdom!

Epcot was awesome too. Especially the countries tour!

You need a full day fr each park.. That is if you want to do justice to it.

Disney resort will be the best deal..so even if you don't go to the theme park, you will have some recreational stuff there too.

Must visit other than theme parks..international drive!

And yes there s fast track available for all rides..we have been there in march (2011)and October(2009) ..in march, the wait time was like more than an hour or two..in October, it was usually less than 15 mins..we took way more rides in October...so figure that out.

If you ave any other specific questions, p,ease do ask. :-)

Re: Disney Vacation in Florida

For ages 8 & 6 Disney's Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are ideal. Hollywood Studios may also be a good bet for the 8 year old. Water world would be fun in the summer months and if you are OK with walking around the park in swimwear, else its better avoided. There is really nothing much for those ages in Epcot.

You don't need to stay at Disney hotels, they are outrageously expensive and not really worth the money save the magic hours bonus of extended park hours that they offer their in-house guests. (your kids would be tired by the normal closing hours anyway) Its cheaper to stay at a Kissimmee Hotel and avail of the free transfers to the Disney Parks that most hotels offer.

You can fast track rides, but just one at a time, however since your kids are young, most the rides they would like would have short waiting times. the more popular ones like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain in MK and Yeti in AK have really long wait times in summer 90 mins on an average.

You should also consider a days stay at Nickelodeon Resorts, your 6 yo will love it and if your 8 yo is into Harry Potter, don't miss out on Universal Studios Islands of Adventure.

Re: Disney Vacation in Florida

thanks mufaddal.

The resorts are indeed expensive compare to other hotels. We don't even the transfer from MCO as we are driving.

There are too many parks.

Is the park hopper worth it. Do people actually park hop? It's really huge in itself.

Re: Disney Vacation in Florida

I have been to the one in anaheim, Cali a couple of times, not the one in Florida though...

Re: Disney Vacation in Florida

if I was going to go with the kids, I would do a resort! but then thats me!

as a couple, we stayed at a hotel in Kissimme.. it was only 10-15 mins drive from the park but if you are there for a week or so, parks can be pretty expensive and exhausting.. a resort will have a pool and play area for kids.. I would just let them play in there for a day!

Wehshi.. the one in Cali is nothing compared to the Orlando one.. we didnt enjoy disney land in 2010 at all after visiting Disney world so went back there in 2011.

Re: Disney Vacation in Florida

Sorry was a bit busy at the office yesterday and couldn't log on.

The first time we went to Disney with our then 7 year old daughter we stayed 4 days at a Disney resort, which I found pretty isolated with not much to do after a day at the park. The only advantage I felt was the opportunity to meet the Disney characters at breakfast and the extra hours for residents at the park. If you like me pine for desi food every off and again, it calls for a long drive out to a Kissimmee restaurant.

We have been to Orlando many times since then have always stayed at the Clarion Maingate in Kissimmee thereafter. I particularly like this hotel for its bargain cost, great location and free parking. After a long day at a park, when I'm back at the hotel I do not feel like driving out to dinner, this is where the Clarion Maingate scores, as its within a 5 min walk from a MacD's, a Cici Pizza, if I remember correctly a Chuck e Cheeses and a great desi restaurant (Passage to India) just across the road.

Theres also a fair bit of souvenir shops, a go karting place and a late night mini golf all within walking distance.

With regards to the Park hopper passes, I do not think its a great deal unless you have been to the parks a number of times and are interested in just a particular ride or two in each park. Its really not possible to do 2 or more parks in day or so. I'd rather go for the 2 day / 3 day - 2 park / 3 park tickets.

If you are driving in the area, a days trip to the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach is highly recommended.

Re: Disney Vacation in Florida

Cool, will try that out too soon.

I've been to Orlando multiple times, I instead opted for the Universal studios theme parks instead, as an adult I preferred that more compared to Disney land.

Re: Disney Vacation in Florida

Njgal....talk to Aahmad..they just got back from Disney World last month.

Re: Disney Vacation in Florida

I would recommend Universal Studios instead
