I agree with you, I also goof up in the earlier case where I think that the person is good but he turned out to be not so good ..vs when I meet someone who does not appear so good and it turns out to the case ...
I think that the main reason is, not many people put a facade on purpose where they look bad so if badness is obvious, they got to be like that ..
on the other hand, people are master of presenting themselves to be nice and we believe them cause we dont have any reason not to believe (after all its our first meeting, what is there not to believe), later on we find out that it was all an act
