Recently some of the people I know have travelled on PIA to and from houston.
The immigration and security people in charge have treated them horribly. As the travellers told me, all the airline passenger are made to wait for hours and asked all kind of disrespecting questions . I understand Pakistani passport holders are be held to high standards, but there is a limit to security check. This has not even happened to people arriving at JFK.
So much so, a a Pakistani father on a visit visa to meet his son was catching a connecting flight from Houston to NY on a domestic airline on return to Pakistan. He and another eldelry person were made to wait for more than 30 minutes just for nothing in the security before the boarding gate area.
I was also told that Pia is cancelling one of the flights because people are refusing to to fly PIA and most of them are either pakistani americans or pakistanis.
Can’t our government complain or should we just continue to accept?
Even illegals from Mexico don’t get treated like this..
Please let us know your or any body you know narrate your experience. We can jointly write a letter in houston papers or demand US ambassador look at this issue.
Re: disgraceful treatment at houston airport and PIA
Hmmm...
I've never been through anything like that fortunately. My family and I travel ONLY PIA and none of us have ever been harrassed or treated like that. Even days after Sept 11, when security and anti-Pak/Islam was at its "height" my dad went to Pak and he was fine to and fro...
Re: disgraceful treatment at houston airport and PIA
No when pakistani nationals show up at the airport with 40 boxes all duct tape together, alarms are bound to go off, I dont care whether its Houston, or Ohio, or NY. duct tape, boxes, box cutters do gont well at the airport. I usually go to the JFK PIA terminal to cheer myself up. It really is a refreshing site. 1 passenger 10 guys to drop him off, and 7 pieces of luggage. Welcome to Int'l Deaprtures.
Re: disgraceful treatment at houston airport and PIA
^ Hahahaha..so true man...i c ppl who bring their entire houses to pak...my mom and I we brng only one piece of luggage each and we end up waiting 2-3 hours for it whereas those idiots with the boxes get all their crap in the first five minutes...it drives me crazy when i c the same luggage going by for two hours and nobody's picking it up...
Re: disgraceful treatment at houston airport and PIA
I don’t know but all the airports in US have a system about checking this sort of thing. At this time at all the US commercial airports all the airport security is handled by the TSA, and normally the airport Manager keeps a close eye on TSA and these kind of issues, since it can result in lose of revenue for the Airports.
The best way to approach this issue is to tell the PIA station manager to file a proper complain to the Airport Manager or the airport Security manager, about the passenger complains, I am sure they will take notice.
Re: disgraceful treatment at houston airport and PIA
I just flew back this afternoon from Phoenix to JFK, the security was tight on both legs, going over and coming back. We were there to attend a soccer tournament, and one of our trainers (a blue blooded American, from Minnifkingsota didn’t have proper ID on him, and he was refused to board the plane). He went back home, brought his ID and got to Phoenix the next day.
Pakistanis (some of them) just think that they are being singled out for some reason. Talk about self-importance and head in the ass. A TSA guy couldn’t tell a Pakistani apart from a luggage cart.
Until you have your own private jets, deal with it.
If you think that you get frisked more than other at airport, try going to a function to meet President Mushy in New York. Ask Matsui what kind of security checks his details perform on you. I am still suffering from ball pain.
Re: disgraceful treatment at houston airport and PIA
I disagree; last_hope is right about what’s happening with PIA passengers at the Houston Airport. It’s not the first time I heard that. If TSA couldn’t tell a difference between Pakistanis and others then we should not be hearing about so many complaints of mistreating Pakistanis. It does not even matter if you a Pakistani passport or American. They profile you just because you are a PIA passenger.
