Re: Discussion: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
**Its was a good book..
After reading preface… I thought it will be another davinci code, revealing mysteries of past, but it was like any other fictional novel with lots of historical information.
Although at times i felt bored by reading long and detailed letters describing a particular place or history.
spoiler alert
And i particularly hate the climax part, where they actually killed the dracula. I mean who do that
Re: Discussion: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
*1 more thing ....
History has always been biased..... you'll always find 2 versions of same story with 2 different perspective ...
Duration of Ottoman Empire (*khilafat-e-usmania) is one of the proudest era in Muslim history. We believe that Turk captured most areas without "unnecessary" violance i.e. they followed islamic rule of war. Ofcourse Europeans don't believe that and try to defame that era as much as they can.

I picked this book up a couple years ago but never bothered finishing it; didn’t hold my attention. I think I still have it here somewhere, so will give it another shot.
Hi cadet018. Vampires? No, I do believe in blood suckers though.

Notorious, I think you have to do a mime performance and send every member of the book club a present before you're allowed to post.
I'm sure it'll be fine for you to answer.
So I read it, and it was still meh. I liked the settings; those parts of Europe rarely make it into fiction so that was cool. Everything else about it was a bit dull and pointless really. It wasn't a particularly enjoyable read and I didn't walk away from it feeling like I had learned anything new.
Re: Discussion: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
when i read the blurb for this book i really didnt think id like it so to my pleasant surprise i found i actually really really liked it! I thought it was easy to get into and really gripping,i could barely put it down! I did find some of the description of letters or historical info a bit long winded and hard to read but otherwise i thought this book was a real page turner. It described parts of europe you dont normally hear about really beautifully. I liked all of the central characters, in particular, helen and professor bora. To whoever reccomended this book, its not something id normally read so thankyou to whoever put it on the list! ,
