Re: Bombs Away…
Look, ever heard of the phase “I’m sorry but you are wrong” “I’m sorry but you must leave” “I’m sorry I cant understand you”
When a MOD says what GAIA said it is NOT POV it is moderation guidelines, philosophy and rules
when you are a moderator you cannot assume for example a person will always use swear words. it is a basic defect as it is a biased moderation. you cannot moderate a user based on what YOU THINK he or she will do in the future.
moreover, admitting a mistake is one thing, justifying your actions based on what and how you interpret something is something a moderator should and must not do. letting an issue slide because it ‘may have been a problem’ shows lack of judgement and deficiency of investigation as to the real understanding of the issue. when you justify your action based on ‘may be this or may be that’ means you do not understand the situation and thus doing improper moderation.
just because the mod does not find anything offensive does not mean it is not, a moderator, putting his or her personal thoughts aside, should figure out if anything is or could be offensive to any of the members (and not just herself) and do moderation according. and justifying from then on is just going over and above
