Assalaamu Aliekum,
I though it might be a good idea to start discussions some Suras from the Quran to further our knowledge.
Al -Fajr
*wa al fajr *
By the break of Day
*wa layaal(in) ashr *
By the Nights twice five;
*wa ash shaf wa al watr *
By the even and odd (contrasted);
*wa al layl 'izaa yasri *
And by the Night when it passeth away;-
*Hal fe zaalika qasam li ze h.ijr *
Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand?
*'A lam tara kayfa fa ala rabbka bi aad *
Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),-
*'Iram zaat al imaad *
Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars,
*'Allate lam yukhlaq mithlhaa fe al bilaad *
The like of which were not produced in (all) the land?
*wa thamud 'allaziina jaabu as. S.akhr bi al waadi *
And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?-
*wa fir awn ze al awtaad *
And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes?
*'Allaziina t.aghaw fe al bilaad *
(All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands,
*Fa aktharu fehaa al fasaad *
And heaped therein mischief (on mischief).
*Fa s.abba alayhim rabbka sawt. Azaab *
Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements:
*'Inna rabbka la bi al mirs.aad *
For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower.
*Fa 'ammaa al 'insaan 'izaa maa ibtalaahu rabbhi fa akramahu wa na amahu fa yaqul rabbe akramani *
Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), “My Lord hath honoured me.”
*wa 'ammaa 'izaa maa ibtalaahu fa qadara alayhi rizqhu fa yaqul rabbe ahaanani *
But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), “My Lord hath humiliated me!”
*Kallaa bal laa tukrimuun al yatiim *
Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans!
*wa laa tah.aad.d.uun alaa t.a aam al miskiin *
Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!-
*wa ta’kuluun at turaath 'akl(an) lamm(an) *
And ye devour inheritance - all with greed,
*wa tuh.ibbuun al maal h.ubb(an) jamm(an) *
And ye love wealth with inordinate love!
*Kallaa 'izaa dukkat al 'ard. Dakk(an) dakk(an) *
Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder,
*wa jaa’a rabbka wa al malak s.aff(an) s.aff(an) *
And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank,
*wa je’a yawma’izin bi jahannam yawma’izin yatazakkar al 'insaan wa 'annaa lahu az zikraa *
And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him?
*Yaqul yaa laytane qaddamat li h.ayaahe *
He will say: “Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!”
*Fa yawma’izin laa yu azzib azaabhu 'ah.ad *
For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict,
*wa laa yuthiq wathaaqhu 'ah.ad *
And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind.
*Yaa 'ayyatuhaa an nafs al mut.ma’innah *
(To the righteous soul will be said: ) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction!
*Irji e 'ilaa rabbki raad.iyah mard.eyah *
"Come back thou to thy Lord,- well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him!
*Fa udkhule fe ibaade *
"Enter thou, then, among My devotees!
*wa udkhule jannahe *
"Yea, enter thou My Heaven!
