Assalamu Alaikum everyone,
I don’t know if anyone has heard of the book ‘Alive and Well in Pakistan’. This book is written by an American journalist, Ethan Casey, who has traveled throughout Pakistan, and worked there as a professor. He writes about his travels and interactions with the Pakistani people, and dispels common western stereotypes about the country by portraying it in a very realistic sense. He focuses on the ‘human dimension’ rather than the politics..
He is currently working on a documentary about Pakistan. You can learn more about the book and movie at aliveandwellinpakistan . com (without the spaces)
Anyway, Mr. Casey is going to be in Chicago in early December (around the 7th), and is interested in holding a discussion around the current situation of Pakistan (ie political/social affairs, how we can respond and help..) Also, it would be a great opportunity to ask him about his current documentary project and give feedback and suggestions.
If this sounds interesting to anyone, please reply back ![]()
