Discuss: Firaaq

Starring Funnyman **Mohib Mirza, **Sanam Saeed, Hira Salman, Junaid Khan, Noor ul Hassan, Syed Mazhar Ali, Uzma Gilani. (Loving the cast!!!)
Written by Mustafa Bilal Afridi
Directed by Aabis Raza (Main Deewani)

Character promos are very intriguing especially Paiman’s.

Hum is very quick with uploading videos in top quality so don’t worry if you don’t have the channel, catch it on youtube.

Re: Discuss: Firaaq

Promos are looking good. I will see.

Firaaq on Hum TV

Very promising. Strong and different story.
Pakistani family living in Panama City Florida.

Uzma Gilani, a conservative and traditional Pakistani. A very controlling woman.

Sanam and Junaid are her children.

Cast: Sanam Saeed, Uzma Gilani, Juniad Khan, Mohib Mirza, Mazhar Ali

Re: Firaaq on Hum TV

I caught few scenes, I am finding negativity of Uzma Gillani's character too overbearing. I personally eschew such dramas because these characters can influence you unconsciously and we see them in dramas so much that its effecting us as a society too. Its just my opinion. But I am looking forward to Sanam and Mohib story. Junaids character seems abusive and Sanam seems sheltered. Hoping to see some transformation in them.

Re: Firaaq on Hum TV

Koi gadha nahin us movie mein. This one is a classic. Deepti Naval and a little boy and several others did tremendous job in addition to the one and only Naseeriuddin shah

Re: Firaaq on Hum TV

Han G… She is anti American… and traditional Pakistani ourat… Controlling and sar phiri… :hmmm:

Re: Discuss: Firaaq

After looking at this thread I Googled the first episode. Couldn’t even finish the first part. The cheesy, 90’s fake-jazz music that’s somehow supposed to represent ā€œAmreekaā€ and it’s vibe is just so overdone and so not applicable anymore. Then the first actress that came on the scene…her fake English accented Urdu :smack: Anyone with such a thick accent to their Urdu doesn’t talk in that much saleeq Urdu…after 1 sentence they switch to English and continue the conversation. The creepy recording of the white girls, if anyone had caught them they would be labelled potential pedos and they would be facing jail. AFAIK, no one is driving down the street in a sports car unless they are 21. Then that second family, with the daughter and the overbearing mother and the quiet father…OVERDONE characters. Every other drama either has a mazloom si maan, or an iron-fisted lady. Completely OTT. I skipped ahead a few minutes after she brought out the laundry basket, to see if it gets better, and no. It didn’t. 1/10

It’s not like these people (actors, producers, directors, writers) don’t already have dual citizenship and live in US/Canada/UK and don’t really know what people look like, talk like, eat like etc. So why try to show things that aren’t so off putting?

Re: Discuss: Firaaq

Thanks for this review. I was thinking to watch it just because of Uzma Gilani, but will utilise my time in something else

Re: Discuss: Firaaq

No… That was white couple who came to Mohib Mirz(psychologist) for pre-wedding marriage counselling. I don’t think they were looking creepy pedo.

Re: Discuss: Firaaq

any hint whts the story about???

Re: Discuss: Firaaq

I didn't even get to that part. I was talking about the first 5 minutes of the drama when the first female character was sitting in the park...just creeping on kids.

Re: Discuss: Firaaq

Uzma Gilani got married second time with Mazhar Ali when her first husband died. Junaid Khan took her second marriage seriously and left home and living separately.. At least this is what I understood from first episode.

Re: Discuss: Firaaq

Agree!! Brilliant review essemm :D Cybils accent was all over the place..
It's done and dusted script but there is still hope with Sanam there and Mohib's a very good actor. I'll give it a watch for couple more episodes just because they are in it.
