I was counting the number of gadgets and gizmos I had and was surprised at how many different ways I have of being “connected”
This in turn got me thinking, how long was the longest that I’ve been “disconnected” in the last 10 years or so - I had trouble figuring that out. By my best estimation, maybe 3 or 5 days without internet and email when I was travelling in the back of beyond and there was no internet connection to be found.
So your turn - excepting phone and text, how long is the longest you’ve been offline and what were the reasons for it?
Longest time I was “offline” (meaning phone or text only with little to no Internet usage) was in 2008 when I went to Karachi to be with my Papa during his last days. That was for about 7 weeks. My days consisted of either being at the hospital with him or managing his care at home. I don’t remember really ever getting on a computer for anything and my phone was a simple Nokia one so
it had texting only.
being disconnected wasnt a choice TS bhai. I was somewhere where there was no internet service and minimal cell service. I did enjoy it, but in this day and age I feel it really isnt possible to remain disconnected indefinitely…you have to be connected for work for school for everything. zIf that werent the case I would have loved to stay disconnected.
Longest was probably a couple years. I generally am disconnected most of the time. If a work project is particularly busy I’ll check emails regular, otherwise days go by without my remembering to sign in. Phone is pretty much non existent.
Why, because sometimes it all just feels like noise for noise’s sake. I can’t function without some serious slabs of quiet time.
about 3 days each in last 10 years or so. Once because of the big blackout of 2003 in whole Eastern USA. For 3 days, no electricity, cell signal or landline. We were totally off the grid, and probably my most peaceful 3 days in USA. Second was pretty much the same for 3 days because of power loss due to to snow storm.
