So I went for a trim to a cheap hairdressers bcos im kanjoos. Which i regret deeply. I asked for a trim.. told her i wanted to keep the length but needed the dead ends trimming off.
Anyway she cuts off a huge chunk and asks if its ok. I assumed it was a layer so i said isnt that a wee bit short? She went on to say I needed it. Suffice to say I now sport a boyish bob wheres before I almost had waist length hair. I was so gutted I couldn’t say anything to them, I mean whats the point when its gone?
Anyway, I feel like a limbs been amputated as when i run my fingers through my hair its stops abruptly. MEri kismat. So… Ive been looking at tips to grow it.
This is what i came up with:
Monistat/ Daktarin fungal cream diluted a little in water and applied every few days. Allegedly a side effect of this is that it makes your hair grow really fast.
Aloe vera gel/liquid applied and left to marinate in the hair and then washed off. Some magical stuff in it makes hair grow super fast.
Perfectil tablets which i am now taking relgiously. Theyre just multi vitamins especially for hair, skin and nails
Theres this vitamin/herbal remedey thing for Dysplasia which contains some elements of aloe vera, this also makes your hair grow as a side effect of it.
The usual dabur amla/coconut/almond/castor oils
HAs any1 had a similar problem and what did they use?
lols, sowie! i went thru the same as a kid n i remember i started crying. my siblings still tease me abt it.
i wud suggest u enjoy yr new cut, find ways to make it look nice. take it as a diff look and celebrate it. dnt think it luks bad or anything of that sort. meanwhile its ok to use any tips/remedies for rapid hair growth. goodluck.
Either that hairdresser lacks experience or simply doesn’t care about her customers. Usually the hairstylist ASKS you before hand how much you want trimmed. And some of them hold up the amount with their fingers for you to CONFIRM it before they even use the scisoors.
But this hairdresser reversed the order…she cut first and then asked later… If there is a drastic difference between your current length and the length you had before (shouldn’t be much of a difference when it’s only a trim)…then I hope you didn’t leave a tip.
Hair care involves many things. Apart from using vitamins and conditioning agents…you also have to make sure you don’t brush it/fold it when it’s wet…as that leads to breakage and split ends. Over-use of the blow dryer/curler/straightner can do the same as well. Stay well-hydrated as that makes the hair more elastic. Get sufficient sleep, exercise to increase circulation (oil massage can do that as well), and reduce stress.
Ophy: I know exactly how you feel! In 2009 I had hair half-way down my waist and I went in for a trim and came back with the length of my hair at my collarbone. My regular hairdresser wasn't working that day and I agreed to a cut by someone else. BIG MISTAKE! I was so upset because I had been growing it :( Anyway Allhamdullilah its now back to being longer than it ever was and here are a couple of things I did:
1) Straightening irons, curlers, etc will make your hair weak/brittle and therefore affect the rate at which your hair grows. Avoid these at all costs- only use when you need to attend a function etc.
2) Hair grows at roughly half- one inch each month so patience IS required.
3) Once your hair gets a bit longer keep it plaited/braided. This ensures that split ends don't occur and hair is less likely to fall out/be damaged.
Also, as someone said above try and embrace your new look. If you are really unhappy with it you could always get hair extensions.
p.s.: I now make an appointment with my hairdresser beforehand who knows that a TRIM is a TRIM and holds the hair out to show me how much she is cutting before she actually cuts it. NEVER compromise on your hairdresser/salon!
