How well do you deal with disappointments? Whether it is life, relationships, job or dream; how do you manage to live with and out of it?
Re: Disappointments
lately i haven't been doing that well. i used to be pretty stoic about disappointments but now i really take them to heart, and it ends up messing up other things at the same time. i've started resorting to the prayer mat a little more...just to calm myself down, but the main disappointments still lurk in the back of my mind.
Re: Disappointments
Sometimes you beat yourself over it...and thoughts never stop rolling..sometimes you except the things the way they are and try to find something good within them..perhaps a little glimmer of hope.
Other times..you miove on to better shores..and hope for the best!
Re: Disappointments
For a few hours i'll be very emotional about it, mentally berating myself etc. But after my head is cleared, I think of what happened in a very rational matter, if it could be avoided, if it was my fault or someone else's fault, if it was one of those no-fault things, etc.
Re: Disappointments
I appear calm to others...and they think that my disappointment hasnt really affected me...but it does affect...and I try to get over the grief by praying basically...and it helps a lot...:)
However...I remain disturbed for quite a few days...and I guess its basically the time and prayers which help me to calm myself...but disappointments do hurt...:(
Re: Disappointments
Well I get by thinking "things could be worse" Of course disappointment hurts but well gotto get over it at some point so why not now.

You are right in saying so...but at times its beyond one's control...and then time comes in as the greatest and ultimate healer.
Re: Disappointments
Dont think ant it ever again. 4get it
this is wht i do.
Re: Disappointments
Yup...time heals all!
But sometimes I cant wait for time to do its magic....so I make my own potions!!
Re: Disappointments
depends on wt u r like as a person as we hve read everyone deals wid iit differently , wn i am dissappointed i try to find a way around it or somehow console myself dt it cud b worse and it will al b ok , ofcourse prayin helps a lot n gives me more strenght to cope wid it.
i dun gt stressed over minor dissapointments n dn tke dem to heart at all bt wid big dissappointmens it bcumz harder bt time is a a big healer

But memories haunt...refusing to go away...and then you have to wait for the time to show its magic...but engaging yourself in other activities...and making yourself busier also helps...:)
Its very rare for me to get disappointed though because I don't expect much from the people around me...expectations can lead to disappointments...which can hurt...so avoid expectations...which are also inevitable at times...and those are the times that can bring disappointments...life is so complex! :|
And I think I've digressed from the topic...sorry for that! :)
Re: Disappointments
Expect the worst and hope for the best...It works for me.
Re: Disappointments
i've always had something else to look forward to. nahi tou na sahi! cant cry too long over the spilt milk
Re: Disappointments
Disappointments are part of life..like everything else..one has to learn to live with them..and hope for the best along the road.
Re: Disappointments
good that you brought this up dude.
i feel that around 25+ age of age we all to some extent feel a sense of burden.
take it with a heavy dose of hope is a buffer but if one is knowingly not stays true to his self and not deals with people around him in fairly then that is the greatest source of disappointment. on the contrary people who run across and into bad people also experience disappointments.
one way to look at it is to feel thankful for what you have which others may not.
if you are trying honestly and are not taking advantage of anything or anyone then each one of us will have our good times in a truly good company which will come. my grandfather advises me that just always try to stay true to yourself and do your best efforts to focus on the end goal and the means to reaching it to be clear of any misdeeds. there is the sky to look onto for the vastness of the universe and the minuteness of our selves as mere particles on this earth for a very short time period. as men we must handle disappointments by back warding to track where we made mistakes and then correct them as soon as we can.
that will help. i have tried it and it does.
Re: Disappointments
Firstly don't get disappointed . nothing can be the end of the world , there 's always one way or the other .
Life has it's own ups and downs , if you loose something , you also gain something . sometimes we feel that we have lost everything , but actually its the way we feel only .
