From what you’ve said, I think the men are behaving the way they are because they’re being allowed to by the women. But what does the title have anything to do with it?
Listen people. Don't use stories like this to knock down the feminist movement.
First off, women have always been exploited and even like this in previous civilizations where there was no feminism and no rights for women. We know this. Just look at the lingering effects of the preIslamic Hindu culture in our current culture. 90% of our warped ideas on women come from there. And there was no feminist movement back then.
So has liberation put us at higher risk for exploitation? In some ways, since we have the ability to make our own decisions at a younger age against parental wishes, sure. But that's not really feminism. That has to do with how American families are raising their kids these days and the new age concept of teenagers = adults. That goes for both genders. You let an inexperienced kid make their own relationship and substance abuse decisions and most will engage I'm reckless behavior.
I blame the media more than feminism. How the media shows women - the ideal woman being unrealiatically hot and loaded with money with a hot boyfriend - that's not a part of feminism. But it's what you're seeing women trying to become. I know few women who actually lead a feminist life and honestly, they have too much self respect to get played like that.
We really need to differentiate decisons based on feminism vs. Just plain reckless behavior.
I'm seeing more reckless behavior from BOTH genders and I think it has more to do with our family units, materialism, faster economy, culture of instant gratification, and media influence more than the effects of ladies from the 50's who sought for equal rights in the workplace.
Wow!
I think we all are very lucky to follow a religion like Islam. Not only does it supports us as females but it gives us inner strength aswell. I dont know if its just me or what, but now im seeing more females being treated as objects and this is what they call liberation. I found this really good quote on facebook, and i thought i would share it, its just so beautiful they way women are described in Islam.
Sorry my fault, support isn't the correct word in this context.
I don't mean to disrespect anyone's argument or anything, just wanted to portray women are given more respect (izzat) in Islam.
No doubt, definitely we are lucky to live in a country where women have the right to work, study, drive etc.
i really need to go to US and then keep my fingers crossed.. …![]()
